Late stage capitalism has me flush with material things while bankrupting me emotionally and mentally. Hang in there friend! So glad to see our collective consciousness blossoming to realize what truly matters. Our time here is so short. Too short to whither away on what doesn’t feed the soul 💜
YES, I LOVE THIS!! I open LinkedIn like once a month, wondering if I should apply for a 'real job.' I scroll through some job descriptions, but they all give me the ick. Then I finish by seeing a post from someone I studied with, announcing that they just started working for another soul-sucking corporate job (topped by the comments of at least 3 team members “WeLcOMe tO tHE FAmiLy”) and I realize that I’m actually really happy with my free-spirited, artsy life ❤️🔥
yes!!! I do the same thing and it’s seriously the worst feeling to see people you studied with climbing up the corporate ladder. I always have to remind myself that it’s not even what I want but it’s hard. It’s also hard when that’s all your seeing and thinking about via social media. But they are lying to us!!! I applaud you for realizing what you really want because it’s seriously so hard to do 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 we’ll figure this weird and backwards world out together 🩷🩷
America is an open air prison run by corporations. If you want to actually live freely, learn another language and move to one of the BRICS countries or one that they are friendly with. There's nothing left of a real life to live here in this country unless you are someway connected with the ruling class. In your 20s it's sorta do-able, but much after that it turns into a nightmare.
Juantastico, I respectfully and completely disagree with you. I am as far from the "ruling class" as you can get and I still find great value in this nation. She is wounded and in distress right now, yes, but there is plenty of good here. I live it, even as an Elder of nearly 72. I have no desire whatsoever to live in any other place. No nation on earth is some perfect and serene place. I will take the USA with all her troubles, over any other place. I was born here, I will depart for Heaven here. Wendy
Just got made redundant from my job, so I’m currently job hunting and it’s soul-destroying. Trying to sell myself for a job I don’t want. I just want to do creative things but there’s no money in that either. UGH.
Love this take :) I had to unbrainwash myself from the starving artist trope and the idea that artists don’t make money.. it’s simply not true. I wish you the best in navigating your career as a creative, this is only just the start!
What if we all just quit? We know they are selling our data, exploiting people’s need for food and housing. What value does LinkedIn offer the average user?
I have never read something and felt my heart is being spoken out. I don't know you but I after reading this I feel if we ever crossed paths, we would be really good friends.

I haven’t even read it yet but everything about the title is right lol
You may not be as cynical about it all as you get older. Or maybe you’ll become more cynical - either way, great post and very relatable
So relatable! I studied philosophy at university and had all the same thoughts about my career path and what I wanted to do in the world. Keep going 💞
i’m glad i’m not alone! thank you ❤️
this is SO real and refreshing to read as a senior undergrad student majoring in business.

I think that’s truly the only solution!! we all have to just not accept it anymore
I agree 100%, I’ve been in the corporate world for a while now and its super draining
